We live in the Seattle area, though we are not natives. Jen became earnestly interested in homeschooling in the Spring of 2011, and began researching. F3 was not immediately taken with the idea. So we began testing the idea with Jen being a bit more structured with "teaching," taking a leisurely pace to things like Phonics instruction and Five In A Row through the summer. We feel very fortunate that F3's job has allowed us to make the choice for me to stay home with our kids.
Jen - wife and mama. I'm an "older" mom, who gave up my career (I use the term loosely) of 15 years to stay home with our kids after our second was born. I have my BA in Education, but my career had nothing to do with teaching. I am putting that degree to much more use here at home. I enjoy photography and scrapbooking.
F3 - breadwinner, fabulous, responsible, caring husband and Dada. He works in aviation safety and has his Master's. He runs marathons and is a car enthusiast.
C1 - bright, talkative, darling daughter born in May 2007. She had a vocabulary of over 300 words and was talking in sentences at 2, and is learning to read at barely 4. She is interested in science and loves to read. She asks a lot of questions, and usually we like that.
C2 - sweet, quiet, darling son born in November 2009. He has a speech delay, but understands everything. He is an especially kind and sensitive little guy. He is interested in how things work, trucks, and airplanes. He communicates very well for someone who doesn't use words!
About the family naming conventions: F3 is a "third" so we have come to often use his first initial and "number" as shorthand. Our kids' names both start with 'C' so the initial and numbering shorthand carried on to them.
